Johannesburg – Northern Drakensburg (Long Tom Pass, Sabie, Graskop) – Panorama Route (Blyde Canyon, God’s Window) – Kruger National Park (Game Drive) – Lowveld (Kaapsehoop, Barberton) – Johannesburg
Legendary because this gem has to be the highest concentration of amazing riding on the planet today over about 2,000 km. The Lowveld Legend route can be enjoyed all year round as South Africa’s winter is extremely mild in this area with temperatures staying warm and balmy during the day often into the upper 20 Celsius! Summers are warm to hot occasionally around the 40 Celsius mark.
Tours depart and return to Johannesburg. We ride out via the Highveld (highlands) plains before plunging down the mighty Northern Drakensburg Range and into the warm Lowveld (lowlands) where your week is spent exploring this land of myth and legend where transport riders hunted wild game on their trek when hauling mining supplies with ox wagons to the old Transvaal gold fields during the 1800s gold rush.
A rest day is encapsulated by a two night overnight bush stay mid tour with a rest day spent ‘Big 5’ Game viewing from the seat of an open safari vehicle into the famed Kruger National Park. Kruger is famous for thousands of species of indigenous African Wildlife in their natural habitat.
After an exclusive ‘Greater Kruger National Park’ wildlife experience we continue to explore the amazing roads and scenery in the area including God’s Window, Blyde River Canyon, Abel Erasmus Pass, Long Tom Pass to name a few. The area is punctuated with a myriad of mountain passes and ports covering the landscape; the geography of the area lending itself to some of the most amazing and diverse scenery.
