Day 2 – Ha Noi to Mai Chau (Approx. 180km)

  • Out of the city into the countryside – Follow the Red River to the south – Pass through small towns – See the Vietnamese way of life – Head towards the mountains – Into hill tribe areas – Wooden stilt house villages – Thung Khe Pass – Mai Chau Valley – Stay in Poom Coong village

Day 3 – Mai Chau to Son La (Approx. 200km)

  • Hoa Binh Lake – Great waterfalls – Moc Chau plateau – Tea plantations – Follow the Laos border – Hill tribe villages – Stepped rice terraces

Day 4 – Son La to Dien Bien Phu (Approx. 240km)

Day 5 – Dien Bien Phu to Lai Chau (Approx. 200km)

Day 6 – Lai Chau to Sa Pa (Approx. 70km)
